AirTouch F20 Full Face Mask Features

The AirTouch F20 Full Face Mask is known as the softest mask designed by ResMed. Its design is based on the ResMed AirFit F20 Full Face Mask, but the AirTouch F20 has UltraSoft memory foam cushions.

This face mask features:

  • Therapy pressure between 3 to 40 cm H20
  • Operating temperatures between 41 to 104 degrees F (5-40 degrees C)
  • Operating humidity between 15% to 95% non condensing
  • Noise emitted at 30 dBA (uncertainty of 3 dBA)
  • Dimensions 6.1’’ (H) x 6.3’’ (W) x 5.8’’ (D)
  • Service life is dependent on the care, intensity of usage, maintenance, and environmental conditions in which the mask is used in and stored.
  • Dead space is the empty volume of the mask to the end of the swivel when using the large cushions its 281mL

The AirTouch F20 Full Face mask is not made with PVC, phthalates, or natural rubber latex.

Pros of the AirTouch F20

ResMed AirTouch F20 back

The most noted feature of this full face mask is that it has ResMed’s UltraSoft memory foam cushion.  This allows for the cushion to mold to your individual face.  This cushion is great for those that struggle with red marks from other face masks or those that experience a rub-line on their nose.

Again, because of the UltaSoft memory foam cushion, air leaks are minimal even at higher pressures.  This is the lightest full face mask made by ResMed.

It has the upgraded vent technology, QuietAir. QuietAir makes the AirTouch F20 89% quieter than before.

The AirFit F20 and the AirTouch F20 work interchangeably. If you already have the AirFit F20, you can order the upgraded cushion without replacing your entire mask.

Easy assembly. This mask has the magnetic clips that don't require clipping or grasping while holding the mask securely.

Quick release elbow makes it easy to disconnect from the tubing.  If you take trips to the bathroom throughout the night, you won't have to remove the mask. Simply disconnect and reconnect.

AirTouch F20 Troubleshooting

There are so many options available on the market today because each and every patient has their own unique therapy needs and personal preferences.  Knowing the potential issues that can arise along the way and being able to address those issues is key to your consistent and successful sleep therapy.

Mask is Uncomfortable

The straps could be too tight or too loose.  Finding the setting of your straps can really impact the comfort. If you are struggling with adjusting the straps yourself, reach out to your sleep medicine provider for assistance.

Another common issue that results in an uncomfortable mask is incorrect sizing of the mask itself.  There is a sizing template offered. Make sure you’re provider uses the specific fitting template to match your face size with the correct mask.

A Noisy Mask

If you are struggling with a noisy mask, the first thing you will be directed to do is check the elbow on the mask.  It could be incorrectly installed causing excessive noise.  Remove the elbow and follow the directions for reattaching the elbow to the mask.

The vent may need to be cleaned.  If there is a build up of dust or debris it can cause additional noise.  Use a soft bristle brush to clear the vent.

Air Leaking Around Face

The first thing you will want to check is the fitting of the mask to include the correct size and the straps.  Follow the instructions or speak with your sleep medicine provider.

The cushion may be incorrectly positioned and need to be repositioned on your face.  Should you still experience an air leak, remove the cushion and allow it to resettle, then attempt to reposition the mask again.

Air leaks may be the result of a deteriorated cushion. ResMed recommends that the UltraSoft memory foam cushion is replaced monthly.

Cleaning your Mask

The UltraSoft memory foam mask should not be washed with water. Alternatively, they should be cleaned with a cleaning wipe after every use.  Using water on the cushion will result in premature deterioration of the cushion.

Hand-wash the remaining parts, including headgear, by agitating in warm water with a mild liquid detergent.  Do a follow-up rinse to ensure that all the detergent has been removed and allow the parts to air dry.

Again, it is recommended that the cushion is replaced monthly.

Customer Reviews

One customer reported, “The mask itself is really comfortable and fits my face well. I have facial hair, and the seal it creates is way better than silicone. The mask cushion is really nice against my skin and the plastic headgear pieces are well placed. I felt claustrophobic in other masks I have used, but this one doesn’t make me feel that way. I do, however, hate the headgear straps. I have facial hair, and the mask tends to grab and pull the hair on my face and back of the neck. It will do this nearly every night. This makes it uncomfortable to put on, but after some adjusting, it will stop. I like the magnetic strap ends that are easy to put on and take off. Overall I really like the mask and deal with the headgear because the mask is so comfortable.”

Another customer noted: “I am used to the full face mask going under my chin, Fisher Paykel #431, this mask does not, this causes air leakage during the night. The FOAM insert is absolutely terrific, now if Resmed can lengthen the face mask I would definitely be a lasting customer.
